Representative Jim McDermott (D-WA) talked about the differences between congressional Democratic and Republican positions on Medicare spending. Regarding Medicare and Social Security spending, he said that spending per person had not increased, but rather an increasingly higher percentage of the population was becoming eligible for benefits. He said Republicans should “admit that it’s not a spending problem. It’s a revenue problem.” He also responded to telephone calls and electronic communications.
Nancy Calo read news headlines from C-SPAN Radio at the end of the program.
