Presidential and congressional campaign workers talked about the lessons they learned from the 2012 elections. The discussed the impact of the Supreme Court Citizens United decision, social media, management of the Obama campaign, and improvements that could be applied to 2014 elections, for which they were already hiring campaign managers. During the audience participation portion they answered questions on the evolving roles of regional political directors and general consultants with the advent of super political action committees (super PACs), the effects of social media and the 24-hour media cycle on making policy, and more.
“The Campaign Operatives” was a panel of “Campaigns and Legislation: Applying Lessons from the 2012 Campaign Cycle to the 113th Congress,” held at the Georgetown Law Center Hart Auditorium.
