Jay Carney briefed reporters and answered questions. He said the nomination of General John Allen to NATO commander “will proceed.” General Allen’s nomination was put on hold while the Pentagon investigated emails that linked to the resignation of CIA director General David Petraeus. Other topics at today’s briefing included Secretary Clinton testifying on the Benghazi consulate attack and U.S. foreign policy.
