      <title>Book Discussion on [My Share of the Task]</title>
      <description>General Stanley McChrystal talked about his memoir, [My Share of the Task], with author and journalist Mark Bowden. In the book, the former commander of U.S. forces in Afghanistan recounted the major turning points in his 34-year military career, which ended in 2010. He responded to questions from the library at the Free Library of Philadelphia. 
Stanley McChrystal, a graduate of West Point, retired from the U.S. Army in July 2010 as a four-star general. Along with commanding U.S. forces in Afghanistan, General McChrystal also served as commander of the Joint Special Operations Command and as director of the Joint Staff. He is the co-founder of McChrystal Group, a consulting firm, and, since August 2010, has been a senior fellow at Yale University's Jackson Institute for Global Affairs.</description>

This computer "worm," a potentially devastating computer virus, has infected millions of computers since it appeared in November 2008. Topics included the possible purposes of this "bonnet" and how it is being combatted. They also responded to questions submitted by members of the audience. John Markoff moderated.
This was part of the Computer History Museum 2011 lecture series celebrating Revolutionaries.</description>

      <title>Book Discussion on [Executive Secrets: Covert Action and the Presidency]</title>
      <description>William Daugherty talked about a new edition of his book, [Executive Secrets: Covert Action and the Presidency], published by University Press of Kentucky. A retired senior officer in the Central Intelligence Agency, his first tour with the CIA was in Iran, where he was one of fifty-two Americans held hostage for 444 days during the Carter administration. He also wrote [In the Shadow of the Ayatollah: A CIA Hostage in Iran]. His last assignment was in the area of covert action policy and included serving as CIA liaison officer to the National Security Council staff. After his presentation he responded to audience members' questions.
 
 This event at the Greenville Country Club was the award ceremony for the 2006 Paolucci/Bagehot Book Award from the Intercollegiate Studies Institute. Mark Bowden, author of [Black Hawk Down], provided the opening remarks. He wrote the foreword to [Executive Secrets.]  The award presentation and reception followed Mr. Daugherty's lecture.</description>

      <title>In Depth with Mark Bowden</title>
      <description>Mark Bowden was interviewed about his life, his career, and his body of work. He also talked about U.S. foreign and military policy, challenges arising in the Middle and Near East, and writing about contemporary public affairs. He also responds to telephone calls and electronic mail.
 
 Scenes were shown of a visit to a military base, Fort Campbell, Kentucky, May 25, 2006.
 
 Mr. Bowden's 1999 book [Black Hawk Down:  A Story of Modern War], the story of the downing of a Black Hawk helicopter in Somalia in 1993, was made into a movie directed by Ridley Scott. Another of his books, [Killing Pablo] (2001), which covered the life and death of Colombian drug lord Pablo Escobar, is currently being adapted for film. (Mr. Bowden is writing the screenplay). Mr. Bowden's latest book, [Guests of the Ayatollah:  The First Battle in America's War with Militant Islam], is about the 444 day Iran hostage crisis that began in November 1979. Mark Bowden's other books are: [Doctor Dealer] (1987), [Bringing the Heat] (1994), [Our Finest Day:  D-Day, June 6, 1944] (2002) and [Finders Keepers] (2002).</description>
