 Queen Noor was born Lisa Halaby in 1951 and grew up in an Arab-American family. After graduating from Princeton's first co-ed class, she met King Hussein of Jordan in his country while visiting her father. They married in June 1978. She was renamed Queen Noor Hussein. During her reign she worked for human rights, conservation, education, and served as a spokesperson for Jordan's position to the American press during the first Gulf War.</description>
